‘Zopilote’ is the latest release from Da Rico (Patrick McMahon) on which he channels the sounds of Mexico, from jazz to mellow vibes and funk this song has a bit of everything. Da Rico produced the entirety of his latest EP Rico Tape (which drops on Friday 24^th September) in Mexico and this environment has flooded into this song in abundance. “‘Zopilote’, meaning vulture, is a mellow guitar-led footwork tune whose name comes from the marginalised Náhuatl culture of Mexico” and Da Rico has truly rooted himself into that culture with this release. The lush instrumentation is stunning, especially the guitar which shines through like a ray of sunshine while the fast pace of the track keeps the energy running high.
